Friday Again?

I really am worried about the speed time seem to race past me.
How is it possibly Friday again?
It was just Monday.
Wasn't it?

I've been trying to cook healthy and budget friendly meals like stir fries, soups, a bit of pasta. The usual staples which quite frankly does not make me want to whip out my camera. Hopefully that explains my lack of recipes and photos.

In fact one of the things on my mind is working out a flexible monthly menu so that I can save money on our meals. Failure to plan is planning to fail or in my case, spend too much money!

Oh and did I mention all I want to do is sew bags?
What is wrong with me?

At least Heidi loves her new reversible bag and she's using it as her lunch bag for school. And I'm using mine every day now for shopping and stuff. Mostly I just like looking at it too... Must be losing my mind with this selling our house and buying a new house thing.

Happy Valentines Day!

In celebration of valentines day I made cute little bags for the girls based on a great tutorial from lbg Studio. And hearts, of course, from the purl bee.

The best part is that I used an old denim from my husband and it is nice to 'repurpose' something, do you know what I mean? The only problem might be that both girls want the pink bag but I'll deal with that problem when it happens.

Pin Cushion

I was getting really tired of trying to pick pins out of a little box and then it hit me. Why don't I just make myself a pin cushion! Duh! Pinterest provided more than enough inspiration.

I found a tutorial on Creative Kismet and Whip Up. It was pretty easy and I am more than happy with the result! Of course I need to work on my hand sewing technique since I don't even know what a slip stitch is... but I'm going to remedy that by taking a sewing course.

If you need a pin cushion then this definitely is the one to make!
P.S. My little pony thinks so too.

Penguins!

Even if I say so myself, I am pretty damn impressed with my sewing skills.
I made two stuffed penguins for the girls!

OK, so I did not do this all by myself... I had a lot of help but I feel quite empowered by this new skill I've acquired. Who knows, I might even have uncovered a hidden talent.

Apologies if you are expecting recipes or food related posts but since I'm in a bit of a food 'slump' I'll be posting about my little side projects which also take place at my kitchen table!
